PKP Cargo will carry out group layoffs. However, up to 500 employees

The manager of the sanation mass of PKP Cargo, with the consent of the management board of the company and the supervisory board, will carry out group layoffs, which will cover up to 500 employees in the period until September 30 – PKP Cargo informed in a communiqué.

Group layoffs will be financed from funds obtained from the sale of freight wagons excluded from operating, up to PLN 35 million.

As indicated, one of the alternative for the next restructuring in the area of ​​employment was the completion of the company's collective labor agreement on October 31, 2025. The proposal, however, did not find the acceptance of trade unions.

In the Company's opinion, an alternative solution would ensure equivalent savings effects with the effects provided for in group layoffs scheduled for 2025.

“Group layoffs will be covered by up to 500 employed in a company, in various professional groups, in the period that was indicated until September 30, 2025. The process of group layoffs was preceded by an analysis of all positions, taking into account, among others, efficiency, importance for key operations and the potential for adaptation in new organizational structures. The priority of the process will be minimizing the negative impact on the key areas of PKP Cargo activities” – – – Written.

Originally, the company planned to release to 1041 employees. Employees, in connection with the termination of an employment relationship with them as part of a group dismissal, will be entitled to severance pay depending on the period of employment.

“At this point, the intention to carry out group layoffs in 2026 has not been confirmed. It will require re -verification of the implemented level, as well as the planned transport work and the company's financial situation after the financial year 2025” – added in a press release. (PAP Biznes)
