New US weapon tested in the Atlantic. Quicksink plugs the ship in 20 seconds

According to the United States Navy Institute, Quicksink is a bomb dropped from the plane, which does not hit the target, but right next to it, and exploding causes a powerful wave that lifts the attacked ship above the surface of the water. The falling ship breaks down into two parts. At least, this is how the one presented during the test, carried out a few days ago. He sank in 20 seconds, confirming the truth of the name given to the bomb.

The US cooperated with Norway
During the trial, carried out in the Norwegian Sea, the bomb was dropped by the American bomber Stealth B-2 Spirit, escorted by four F-35 fighters belonging to Norway and the Norwegian sea patrol aircraft Boeing P-8 Poseidon. It was the first test of this type, to which the Americans allowed the strength of the allied state.
In 2024, B-2 bombers used these bombs to sink two with the exploitation of landing ships: USS Dubuque and USS Tarawa.
The bomb dropped in the far north had a mass of 227 kg and does not differ from the conventional ones, except for the anti -ship guidance system (USAF), except for its body. Quicksink also appears in a 900 kg variant, but both types are much cheaper than heavy torpedoes, operating in a similar way. In addition, the B-2 bomber, which can only carry about 16 heavy conventional bombs, is able to load up to 80 small versions of Quicksink.
According to American forces planners This bomb is to be a response to the demand for a cheap and mass weaponcombating e.g. equally cheap and mass -produced drones, commonly used in current conflicts.
