Political suspension of weapons in case of danger? This is what Poles expect [SONDAŻ]


The publication of the results of the survey coincided with events that again asked questions about Poland's security and the effectiveness of cooperation between the most important state institutions. On the night of September 9-10, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces types informed about the repeated violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones, which flew over the territory of the country during a massive attack on Ukraine.

As emphasized in the announcement, it was “an act of aggression that created a real threat to citizens' safety.” At the order of the operational commander, defense procedures were immediately launched, and Polish and allied aviation took action to neutralize the threat. As a result, some of the unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down – for the first time in the history of modern Poland, weapons were used by the air force in domestic aircraft.
Survey: Poles expect the president's unity and prime minister in the event of a threat
The situation from the beginning of September caused a discussion about the readiness of state authorities to cooperate in the face of a real military threat. In this context, the trust of citizens in the unity of the president and prime minister acquires special significance.

Participants were asked if they believe that – according to previous declarations – the president and prime minister would speak with one voice in a situation of military crisis. Most respondents responded in affirmative, although a clear part of the respondents have doubts about this.
As Pollster's study shows, despite sharp political disputes 62 percent respondents believe that in a crisis situation, the head of state and head of government will act beyond divisions. 38 percent does not share this belieffearing that political tensions could weaken the state's consistency at a difficult moment.
Experts point out that the sense of social security is crucial in times of growing threats associated with the war in Ukraine and the aggressive policy of Russia. Incidents with the participation of Russian drones remind that Poland is on the first line of potential hybrid activities.
The study was conducted using the CAWI method on September 10 and 11 at the sample of 1020 adult Poles.
