Russia will consider the NATO troops to protect the Ukrainian airspace a declaration of war, said former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev, according to the Belgian publication at Libre Belgique, quoted by Rador.
“The implementation of the provocative idea of Kiev and other idiots to create an area of air prohibition above Ukraine and to allow NATO countries to break our drones will mean one thing: NATO war against Russia,” he wrote on his telegram channel.
After several Russian drones entered the Polish air space last week, NATO sent additional fighter jets on its eastern flank. This action reappeared the debate on the protection of the western Ukraine and the destruction of Russian drones or rockets that fly over the territory.
Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, at the beginning of 2022, Kiev has called for NATO aid to protect its airspace. So far, NATO has never responded to this request to avoid a direct military confrontation with Russia.
Dmitri Medvedev, who holds a considerable power in Russia as vice -president of the Russian Security Council, has also threatened with retrival measures if Russia's frozen assets in the European Union were paid to Ukraine as part of a repair agreement. “Moscow will criminally prosecute Member States and relevant EU politicians in all possible international and national jurisdictions and, in some cases, and beyond them,” he wrote.
