Who are the largest Romanian exporters in the US, in the first line of the tariff front triggered by Donald Trump

In Romania, the first to collect the blow will be the exporters of goods in the USA. Hotnews has officially requested from the National Institute of Statistics the list of the first 20 Romanian exporters on the United States relationship.

The US has a commercial deficit in relation to our country of over 770 million euros, according to data transmitted by the National Institute of Statistics and analyzed by HotNews.ro. Romania has exported to the US products and services of over 2 billion euros and imported from Americans of 1.3 billion euros.

For 2024, the exports of Romanian goods in America are estimated at 0.7% of Romania's GDP or 2.4 billion euros. How much the exports of goods from Romania will be affected in the US depends not only on the value of the taxes imposed by Trump but also on the degree of sensitivity of exports to the US to increase taxes.

However, Romania will be affected indirectly. The most affected by Trump is Germany, which is our main European commercial partner. When Germany is sneezing, Romania makes the flu, as they say. According to the governor of the central bank of Germany, the impact of Trumpist tariffs will cost the German economy about 1.4 percentage points for economic growth. However, this translates into a weakening of external demand, part of this demand being intended for Romania.

The manufacturer of industrial pipes Silcotubpart of the International Tenaris group, controlled by the Italian family Rocca, had a turnover of over 3.8 billion lei (773.2 million euros) and a profit of over 100 million euros. The company reached an average number of 1,830 employees last year.

The products made by Silcotub are used in the oil and gas extraction industry, for fluid transport, in the energy field as well as in the automotive industry. Silcotub started at the beginning of 2024 the construction of an energy production project from renewable solar sources with a nominal power of 19.8 MW, respectively 21.2 MWP, in Calarasi.
