“Not knowing her hand, we cannot know what she had inside,” President Nicușor Dan said on Monday, during the interview with Antena 3 CNN, asked if the Russian drone that entered the weekend in the Romanian airspace was armed.

“I do not have this information, because he had something inside her who … Not knowing her hand, we cannot know what he had inside. This is what I can say, she was, as I said so many times, pursued by our planes and partners,” the head of state, to the question addressed by one of the best known Voices.

At the insistence of the journalist about the exit of the drone on our radars and the place where it was later directed, Dan stated: “It came out of the air territory (of Romania, no) and could not be followed.”

“He went to Ukraine, where he had come from, yes,” added the head of state.

The president then insisted once again that we do not know if the respective armed drone.

President Nicușor Dan said on Monday, previously during the interview, that the drone that recently entered the Romanian airspace is Russian, and the legislation allows it to be shot down.

“We know that it is Russian, we know exactly the time interval and the course it had on the Romanian territory,” said Nicușor Dan.

Asked if this drone was to be shot down, he replied: “According to the law that the Parliament voted in this spring, there is the legal framework to break down and the president should not approve, neither the minister, nor the chief of the General Staff, must be the commander of the guarding operation of that area.”

“All the time is a decision to make on a case -by -case basis, because, when you pull it, you can cause collateral damage. This is all I can say at the moment,” the president added.

On Saturday evening, the population in the communities in the immediate vicinity of the north of Tulcea county, including the one in the municipality, an area on the border with Ukraine, received two extreme alert messages and was urged to shelter in safe places, in the context in which a Russian drone was detected in the Romanian Air area.

“The drone orbit for about 50 minutes, from the northeast of Chilia Veche, Romania, to the southwest of Izmail (Odessa, Ukraine, n.red.) And left the national air space near Pardina, heading to Ukraine,” the MApN said.

Eeronave F-16 and Eurofighter Typhoon, piloted by Romanian and German military, monitored the area, until 9:30 pm, and received the authorization to bring down the target, added the ministry.

“The F-16 aircraft had intermittent contact with the target, visually and radar, following it throughout the evolution. The pilots received the authorization to break down the target, but when they had direct contact, evaluated the collateral risks and decided not to open the fire,” said the spokesman of the MAPN, Colonel Corneliu Paul.
