Ukrainian drones hit an important Russian military plant in the city of Ijevsk, located over 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) from the Ukraine front, a source of the security service of Ukraine (SBU) on Tuesday for The Kyiv Independent.

This SBU source said that the long -range drones of the agency targeted the Kupol factory in the Republic of Udmurtia, Russia, on the morning of July 1. At least two confirmed bombings hit the factory production and storage facilities, causing a fire on the spot, according to the same source.

The target factory produces Tor and Osa air defense systems, as well as Harpiya attack drones for the Russian army and are under international sanctions as part of the Russian industrial-military complex. The Kupol plant in the city of Ijevsk, nicknamed the “capital of Russia's armament”, also produces Saman and Adjutant military systems. Ijevsk is also famous by exporting the Kalașnikov model of automatic rifles worldwide.

“With surgical precision, SBU continues to make blows against Russian military-industrial enterprises that contribute to the war effort against Ukraine,” the source said.

“Each such operation weakens the offensive potential (of Russia), disrupts the production chains and proves that no part of Russia's territory is a safe area for its military infrastructure,” said the SBU source.

The residents of Ijevsk reported explosions on Tuesday morning, and the local authorities confirmed a drone attack on a facility in the city.

Alexander Brechaalov, head of the Republic of Udmurtia in Russia, said that emergency services have responded to the attack and that additional information will be provided as they are available.

Brechalov later announced victims, mentioning dead and seriously injured, but did not provide concrete figures.

The Russian aviation agency temporarily suspended flights to and from the city airport following the incident.

The Russian Telegram channels write that no air raid mermaid was heard before the drone attack on the Kupol plant. According to the ASTRA channel, Ijevsk residents could not access the warnings published on Telegram due to mobile internet interruptions, which, according to residents, persist for almost two weeks.

The city of Ijevsk was the target of an attack on November 17, 2024, when a drone bombing damaged a factory known for the production of anti -aircraft defense systems, including torque systems and radar components used by the Russian army. That attack was the first Ukrainian drone attack on the Udmurtia region from the beginning of the war.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that the anti -aircraft defense has overnight 60 Ukrainian drones in several regions, including 17 above the Crimean Peninsula, 16 above the Rostov region and 11 above Azov. Other drones were shot down above the Kursk, Saratov, Belgorod, Voronezh and Oyol regions, as well as above the Black Sea, according to the Russian Ministry.

In the Crimea Peninsula (annexed by Russia in 2014), local telegram channels reported explosions near Kurortne, from Kerci Peninsula, where, according to sources, sources, S-300/S-400 Rocket Rocket systems and Rusești Radar stations. A monitoring group cited NASA satellite data that shows a proportional fire in the area, erupted during the night, although there was no official confirmation of damage to anti -aircraft defense systems.

The inhabitants of the area reported explosions between 0:20 and 0:50 in the cities of Kerci and Feodosia. This information could not be confirmed independently, notes the publication from Kiev cited.
