“I want to stay healthy and play as many matches I can”

Paula Badosa (27 years old, 20 WTA) is preparing for the return to the field, after an injury that kept it away from tennis for 2 months. The Iberian player will evolve for the team of Billie Jean King Cup of Spain.

At 2 weeks after removing from the first round at Wimbledon, Paula Badosa revealed that she is experiencing a muscle break in the back area and announced that she will be missing a few weeks from the circuit.

The 27 -year -old athlete has not participated in tournaments in the United States, missed US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, but will play for her country at the final tournament of Billie Jean King Cup.

“It helps to come and play as a team. After you come back from an injury, sometimes you feel a little lonely, you have ups and downs. To have these people next to me always help me, it motivates me, ”explained Badosa, quoted by the brand.

“It was a few difficult months, although, obviously, I feel a little better day by day. It is never easy to go back after an injury, but I feel great with my teammates. I think in this type of competition, it is very important to have a good atmosphere, a good team spirit,” added the world number 20.

Badosa said that her goal is to gather as many matches in the last part of the season, in order to start with the year 2026.

“Now I take it from the beginning, I come back to the field, but I know the season is ending soon. I will try to feel as well as possible even if, honestly my goal is to look at 2026. I want to stay healthy and play as many matches I can”Badosa concluded.

The final tournament of Billie Jean King Cup will take place on September 16-21, in Shenzen (China). The team of Spain is coached by Carla Suarez Navarro and is made up of Paula Badosa, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, Cristina Bucsa, Leyre Romero Gormaz and Aliona Bolsova.

In the quarterfinals of the competition, Spain will take place with Ukraine.
