China accuses Nvidia of violation of antitrust provisions


According to Associated Press, the Chinese regulatory authorities stated that the preliminary investigation showed that NVIDIA did not meet the conditions imposed when buying Mellanox Technologies, a company dealing with a network and data transmission.
The one -sentence statement of the State Market Regulation Administration did not mention any punishment, but stated that it would conduct a “further investigation”.

In December last year, China initiated an investigation into Nvidia, which was received as retaliation in the fight between the United States and China about the semiconductor chip market. The United States has tightened restrictions on the sale of some export products to Chinese companies, including high -class semiconductors.
As the Associated Press notes, China's statement appeared on Monday, when representatives of the United States and China had a second day of commercial talks in Spain. Another attempt to end the trade war between the two largest economies of the world was made on them.

In December, regulatory authorities reported that they were investigating suspected violations resulting from the takeover of Mellanox for $ 6.9 billion. The transaction was finalized in 2020 after conditional approval by the Chinese regulatory body.
This decision increases pressure to the United States, because officials from Washington are conducting commercial talks in Spain with representatives of Beijing and is a consequence of other Beijing moves aimed at increasing control of the American chip industry.

As the Associated Press reports, last Saturday the Chinese Ministry of Trade announced that he was conducting anti -dumping investigation into some analogue integrated circuits imported from the USA, including freight systems commonly produced by companies such as Texas Instruments and on Semiconductor.
The ministry also announced a separate anti -discrimination study on American remedies against the Chinese chip sector.
