This year, the International Day of Refusing Smoking falls on November 20. The publication says that this is the best day to try to quit smoking.
“This is not just a reminder of the dangers of tobacco, but an opportunity to take a step towards a healthy and smokeless life,” the article noted.
How to quit smoking
- Create your personal tobacco refusal. To do this, select the day for the start – set a specific date. For example, November 20 is an ideal day to take the first step.
- Tell friends and relatives about your decision. Their support will help not to abandon their intentions.
- Formulate motivation – write a few reasons why you want to abandon smoking. The mention of them will become your inspiration at difficult moments.
- Find out in which situations you smoke and plan alternative classes to avoid the temptation. Strong impulses of smoke last only a few minutes. In these moments, do breathing exercises, walk in the fresh air or perform physical activity.
- Remove all the reminders of smoking from your environment. Get rid of cigarettes, lighters, ashtrays and replace them, for example, with chewing gum or candies.
“The process of refusing smoking is a long way. Encourage yourself with small awards for achievements. Use support applications, look for group meetings, get tips from specialists and those who have managed to successfully quit smoking,” they advised in publication.
