Romania depends on the League of Nations! Why is the course of the next edition crucial

At the beginning of 2026, Romania will find out in which group it will play in the League of Nations. After winning his group in the previous edition, the national team promoted in the League of Nations B, where he will be in the third ballot box.

League of Nations, decisive for Euro 2028
The course of Romania in the League of Nations will have a decisive impact on the chances of qualifying at Euro 2028. Specifically, the “tricolors” will be distributed in the values according to the place on which the Group of the Nations will end. Which translates to a heavier or more accessible group in the Euro 2028 preliminaries.
Thus, Romania can be in the second ballot box if it finishes the group on one of the first two places. If it will be the third or fourth in the group, the national will be in the third ballot box.

What the preliminaries for Euro 2028 look like
The 2028 European Championship will take place between June 9 and July 9, in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. There will be 10 stadiums, in 9 cities. And the four countries will participate in the preliminaries.
There will be 12 groups, of 4 or 5 teams. Group winners and the best 8 seats 2 go to the final tournament.
Two places will be for the host countries that do not take a place at the euro (they will be established according to the FIFA standings), and the rest of the places will be decided after a play-off in which the rest of the teams will participate in 2nd place and the best teams in the League of Nations that won the groups and did not qualify for the Euro through the preliminaries.
