Around 3 am local authorities issued warnings for the inhabitants of the Leningrad District about “danger from unmanned aerial vehicles”.

Two hours later, the governor of the District Aleksandr Drozdenko announced that three drones were shot down near the city of Kiriszi, but their shards caused a fire in the company. According to him, the fire was quickly extinguished and there were no victims.

The Kirishinefteorgsintz (Kinef) refinery is located over 800 km from the border with Ukraine and is one of the largest oil refinery in Russia. It is a key supplier of oil products for the northwestern part of the country.

Another such attack of Ukrainians

The day before – on Saturday – the oil refinery in Ufa, the capital of Bashkiria located on the European and Asian part of Russia, was also damaged as a result of a drone. The city of Ufa, where the attacked refinery is located, is located about 1,400 km from the borders of Ukraine.
