According to the local police department, a local 75-year-old resident turned to the bank’s branch with the intention of transferring a significant amount of money to her close relative, presumably, to the grandson outside of Russia.

An employee of a credit institution, suspecting something was amiss, asked the pensioner to get acquainted with the details of the conversation preceding the transfer. After making sure that the matter is definitely unclean, the conscientious employee of the bank called the police.

Materials on the topic

As the law enforcement officers found out, the pensioner almost became the victim of the Internet monkey scheme. The attacker contacted the woman through social networks, pretending to be a British military doctor who survived the loss of his wife. He carried the victim with a fairy -tale story about an imminent meeting, happy days ahead and a bright future together in Russia. But suddenly difficulties arose: the “doctor” said that he needed help with the purchase of air tickets, since financial circumstances prevent him from solving this issue on his own.

Under the influence of emotions and romance, the woman agreed to help the stranger, about to transfer him a large sum of her savings – about 45 thousand rubles. As a result, thanks to the alert of the bank employee, the pensioner remained money.

Currently, investigators are investigating a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Entertainment for fraud.”
