Around 110,000 people participated in London on Saturday in a meeting convened by the far-right British Tommy Robinson, a rally presented as a rally to defend the right to free expression, at a time when the subject shakes the public debate in the United Kingdom, informs AFP.
The manifestation takes place after a marked summer of anti-immigration protests that took place in front of the hotels where the asylum applicants are housed, protests that the activist has widely reported on social networks.
“The silent majority will no longer remain silent. Today marks the beginning of a cultural revolution,” Robinson said in front of the crowd.
The air images broadcast by the television showed a large number of British and English flags that filled the streets in central London.
“People are arrested because they dared to speak”
The heteroclite crowd of claims goes from guaranteeing the right to free expression to the resignation of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, but immigration remains on the foreground.
“I am not a racist. I just find the demographic evolution,” says Ritchie (28 years), who consider as “invasion” the illegal arrival of foreigners in the United Kingdom. “We want to recover our country,” continues the young man who came from Bristol with three more friends and who considers Tommy Robinson as “a hero.”
Tommy Robinson (42 years old), on his real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is the founder of the English Defense League group, which appeared in the football galleries. Known for his anti-immigration and anti-Islam positions, he was condemned several times, especially for disturbing public peace. In 2018 he was imprisoned for the challenge of the court, and in 2024 because he repeated defamatory statements to a refugee.

“I am very worried,” says another protester, Philip Dodge, a retired baker from Sheffield with his wife Maggie. “People are arrested because they dared to talk about immigration or gender topics. I didn't think I could see this in our country,” Dodge continued.
Mary Williams bears a photo of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, the Trumpist Youth Port, killed in the United States. A death that shocked the 30-year-old London, so he decided to attend the rally, especially since Tommy Robinson frequently communicated with Charlie Kirk on social networks.
The demonstration was also marked by a few incidents, when the protesters threw various objects to the police.
Tommy Robinson has supporters in the US and France
A counter-management was organized simultaneously by the UK racism, attended by around 5,000 people. “It is very important to oppose fascism. We must be solidarity with asylum seekers and show that we are united,” Diana Abbott, one of the participants, told Sky News.
Tommy Robinson, who has billionaire Elon Musk among supporters, has mobilized his partisans several times, in demonstrations who had from several thousand participants in tens of thousands, as in July 2024 when between 20,000 and 30,000 people, according to the estimates of the Hope Not Hate.
The organizers of the Saturday demonstration announced the presence of several right or far -right rights or right personalities, such as Steve Bannon, former adviser to US President Donald Trump and the president of the far -right French Party Reconquête, Eric Zemmour.
The right to freedom of expression is at the center of public debates in the United Kingdom for several months. The subject is most often raised by the right-wing right, but has been evoked in connection with the hundreds of arrests of protesters who have expressed support for the Palestine Action group, which is considered a “terrorist organization” by the London Government.
