President Karol Nawrocki emphasized on Saturday that after the attack of Russian drones, Poland must draw consequences from what happened. According to him, this means the need to expand the anti -done system and allocate 5 percent. GDP for armed forces.

On Friday late in the evening, an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council on the invasion of Russian drones into the Polish airspace was convened at the request of Poland. Our country was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcin Bosacki, who declared that a violation of Polish airspace was a violation of international law and a destabilizing escalation of the conflict. He emphasized that Poland cannot be intimidated and it would continue to support Ukraine.
Most of the Council Member States – European countries, Panama and South Korea – expressed solidarity with Poland and condemned Russian actions. The US and Great Britain declared that they would defend NATO territory. The Russian side, however, repeated the translation that Russia's goal was not Poland, and the range of Russian drones prevents them from reaching our country.
President Karol Nawrocki referred to the meeting of the UN Security Council during the Saturday video joining with participants of the 11th Extraordinary Congress of Gazeta Polska clubs in Sulejów, broadcast by TV Republika. As he said, the meeting concerned “what next.” According to the president, the incident with Russian drones should “draw consequences for our safe future.”
– anti -done systems – of course, yes. And above all, which was also at the National Security Council (the meeting took place on Thursday in Warsaw – PAP), not saving at the expansion of the security system of the Polish Armed Forces. From here, my postulate sounded on the National Security Council – also from the election campaign, but after September 10 even more obvious – that we should spend 5 percent. GDP for Polish armed forces – he emphasized. He also announced that he would “follow allocating these expenses.”
When asked how to make the next attack of Russian drones to Poland, the president pointed out that in this situation, peace, “faith in the Polish soldier” and readiness to “react to the attachment of Vladimir Putin” are crucial. – As the President of Poland, I would like to convey such an emotion to all to you that we will not be afraid of 21 drones at Polish borders or behind Polish borders. I call regularly to be aware that a Polish soldier and Polish command did his job. Mechanisms as part of the North Atlantic Alliance also worked – he pointed out.
Nawrocki expressed the conviction that on September 10 Poland needed the cooperation of the president and the government “despite all differences, conflicts”. – I had to obviously behave like a president, for whom the good of the Polish state and the mechanisms in which we operate are the most important – he concluded.
On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the operational command of the Armed Forces types reported that during the night attack of the Russian Federation to Ukraine, the Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by drones. As emphasized, “this is an act of aggression that created a real threat to the safety of our citizens.” Defense procedures were immediately launched at the order of the RSZ operational commander. Those drones that pose a direct threat were shot down by Polish and allied aviation – this is the first time in the modern history of Poland, when the air forces used weapons in the air space of the country.
