The international premiere of the documentary “Boloni – the Transylvanian legend” took place on Wednesday and Thursday in Cinefest 2025, from Miskolci. Ladislau Boloni (72 years old) spoke about the whole experience of filming a documentary about his life.
For Boloni, so experienced in football, it was a new situation to be in the center of a movie. Former technician from Metz, Rennes, Sporting, Monaco, Nancy and the national of Romania, among others, spoke about the emotions that the documentary awakens about his life.
Ladislau Boloni: “The film awakens in me much deeper emotions than in the public who does not know me”
“I was used to my matches to be filmed, but making a documentary is something else. For me there was deep water, at first I didn't even know how to behave, how to move, what to say. It was a completely new experience, even for me, who had an actress.
It is something else to look at this movie through the eyes of someone who knows what follows after each cut phrase, what work, what joys and suffering are hiding in the back.
For me it is difficult to give an objective judgment, because the film awakens in me much deeper emotions than in the public who does not know me.
When they came with the proposal, I was very cautious. I asked to see some of their previous films and gradually we got to approach. A friendship relationship was created, we opened each other, and so we managed to reach people hard to access for such a project, ”said Ladislau Boloni, according to Minap.Hu.

After a lifetime in football, many things you put aside. Now it's time to open them. However, I still look for that challenge that gives me the same pleasure for which I deserve to make sacrifices, as I did before.

Next to Puskas, he is the only Hungarian who raised the trophy of the European Champions Cup as a player. For our generation, Bölöni was what Ronaldo or Mesi are today. His story is so strong that he can even excite a western spectator.
