– Today, a very important moment for the Tatra National Park (TPN), because we signed a dedication agreement with the Forestry Forest District. It is an area located in the TPN buffer zone, practically 100 m from the park border. We have been looking at this place for a long time and wanted to take over the formal power over it – said TPN director Szymon Ziobrowski during Tuesday press conference. He added that it was good that the State Forests in 2023 bought this area and decided to sign a contract with TPN.

As he pointed out, this area will serve mainly educational purposes. – We want to conduct activities in the field of active education, going beyond the trails, which is impossible in the Tatra Mountains. It is also a place of frequent migration of large predators, including Bears that appear there in the vicinity of the buildings at ul. Bogdański. In this area, we will be able to conduct activities related to deterrent individuals – noted Ziobrowski.

As he said, it is also an important step towards expanding the borders of the national park. “I believe that maybe it can be achieved next year,” he added.

The director of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Krakow Piotr Kempf emphasized that the purchase of the Forest of the Forest by the State Forests was of key importance for the protection of this area.

– A very important element of the balanced forest management is to allocate part of the funds for land buyout. It is a guarantee that the area will not be built. In 2023, we bought priests a forest from the oldest Zakopane parish. Thanks to this, we can be sure that nature will be preserved in the forest state – said Kempf. He said that in the past two and a half years of Poland, the State Forests have acquired over 12,000. hectares of forest land with a value exceeding half a billion zlotys.

He added that the value of the purchase of the forest, covering a total of over 10 ha, amounted to over PLN 4 million. – This is a sensation on a national scale, because the price was very high. But we are aware of the social and landscape value of this place. That is why we are pleased to pass the area under the possession of TPN, hoping that in the future it will become part of the park – emphasized Kempf.

The director of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Krakow pointed out that the purchase of Księży Forest was an exceptional transaction, because in Podhale the sale of private forest land is extremely rare. – Highlanders are very attached to their property, they know what value the forest is – both economic and cultural. It is in this region that the most forest communities in Poland operate. That is why such transactions are a sensation – he assessed. (PAP)
