There can be no mistake in such a large scale attack on Poland, a Polish official said in response to US President Donald Trump's statement that the entry of Russian drones could have been accidental, Reuters reports.
“I think this is a message that should reach President Trump today: there is no question of a mistake. This was a Russian deliberate attack,” said Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk, for the Local Poldat News television station.
On Wednesday morning, Poland shot down 19 drones in its airspace with the support of NATO's military aircraft, being the first time a NATO member used the power of Fire since the Russian War in Ukraine.
“It could have been the result of a mistake,” Trump told journalists on Thursday.
“I am not satisfied with anything from this situation, but I hope it will end,” the US president added in front of the reporters, before climbing the helicopter Marine One.
The Polish Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, who is visiting Kiev, also responded to Trump's words.
“The night when 19 Russian drones passed in Poland, 400 (drones) plus 40 missiles passed in Ukraine. These were not mistakes,” he said, in a post on X.
