The head of the US forces in the Indo-Pacific region confirmed on Wednesday that Ukraine captured two men of Chinese originating on the side of Russia in the Donetk region of eastern Ukraine, stressing that any success in Russia in Europe would encourage China in its offensive ambitions, Reuters reports.
Admiral Samuel Paparo was asked during a Congress hearing if China was engaged in the European War Theater and about the information coming from Ukraine about capturing some Chinese men. “He has done it, and any offensive success in Europe will encourage the RPC in its own offensive ambitions,” he replied, referring to the People's Republic.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said on Tuesday that his army had captured for the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022 two Chinese soldiers who fought, according to the Russian forces in eastern Ukraine, adding among the Russian forces would fight several Chinese, according to AFP.

Beijing rejected Kiev's accusations on Wednesday that several Chinese citizens would fight Russia in Ukraine, declaring that these accusations are “unfounded”, according to AFP.
“China's position on the Ukrainian crisis is clear and devoid of ambiguity and has been widely recognized by the international community,” said Lin Jian, the spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press conference on Wednesday.
Regarding the capture of his two citizens, the quoted spokesman indicated that Beijing “is about to carry out checks with Ukraine.”
“I would like to point out that the Chinese government has always asked its citizens to stay away from armed conflict areas, avoid involvement in armed conflicts in any form and, in particular, avoid participating in military operations,” he stressed.
