The weakening of the ruble stabilizes gasoline prices in Russia

September 11 13:10

The increase in fuel prices in Russia may slow down due to the weakening of the ruble, said Doctor of Economic Sciences Alexander Nevorov. According to the expert, the devaluation of the national currency by about 10 units in relation to the dollar will create a restraining effect for the further growth of gasoline.

The economist pointed to a set of factors affecting the fuel market: seasonal growth in demand due to agrarian work, high consumption due to a large fleet of ICE cars, as well as increased volumes of supplies for a special military operation.

The difference in prices at gas stations of various networks is explained by corporate policy – some companies deliberately restrain the increase in prices in the interests of the state. Russia retains one of the highest levels of gasoline consumption due to a slow transition to electric vehicles and undeveloped charger infrastructure, quotes the expert TV channel “Saratov 24”.

According to expert forecasts, the current price situation will reach the peak in September, after which it can stabilize.
