Asked, on Wednesday night, in an interview with TVR how the coalition works from the government and what he thinks about the attacks between the parties, President Nicușor Dan urged “to look at the results”.
He claimed that it is “certain that the attacks between the ruling parties happen”. “It would be better for them to not exist, that the world would work perfectly and then there would be no need for politicians to mediate between the different interests of society.”
However, Dan urged “to look at the results.”
“Romania was in the situation where it had a problem of stability, credibility and a deficit. There was a concern of the financial market and rating agencies, and after two and a half months the government managed to pass two assumes, with six packs of measures,” added the president.
He also spoke about the visits of rating agencies. The International Fix Fix Agency Fitch reconfirmed, on August 15, the sovereign rating of Romania at the BBB-/ F3 level for the long-term and short-term debt, maintaining the negative perspective.
“If we look at the macro results of this government, I say that the coalition works,” concluded the President of Romania.
Asked about his team from Cotroceni, Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of the ruling coalition in overcoming a crisis. “Many do not like the composition of the ruling coalition, we each have a past, feelings, but this was the most effective formula to overcome this crisis.”
The first session of the coalition after Nicușor Dan asked them to stop attacking
On Wednesday night, the leaders of the Coalition met to discuss again about the reform of the local administration that must be completed on Monday, as they agreed with President Nicușor Dan.
It is the first meeting of the leaders after they were convened by President Nicușor Dan in a meeting in which the head of state asked them to no longer attack and complete the reform of the local administration until September 15.
Next, there are no consensus on the cuttings of the city halls and councils. The PSD claims that the expenses should be reduced, leaving the mayors to decide where they will cut the budget. On the other hand, Prime Minister Bolojan asks for a 10% discount on occupied positions, ie the dismissal of 13,000 employees.
At the last meeting of the coalition in which the cuttings from the town halls and county councils were discussed, Ilie Bolojan threatened with resignation.
Even after Nicușor Dan asked them not to attack, the coalition tensions continue to exist. Just a few days after the meeting in Cotroceni, during the debates of the four censorship motions deposited by the gold, Sorin Grindeanu criticized Ilie Bolojan from the stands.
He told the prime minister that the PSD will not govern “with the pistol at the temple” and that Romania does not need extreme austerity.
