On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces informed that during the Russian Federation attack on Ukraine, the Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by drones. The prime minister emphasized that drones, which were a direct threat, were shot down.

Early in the morning a special meeting took place in the National Security Bureau, in which he took part, among others President Nawrocki, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense and the most important commanders. As Nawrocki said after the meeting, the discussion concerned, among others The possibilities of launching Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which provides for the organization of urgent consultations with allies.

The Council at the BBN was also devoted – as the president said – the need to strengthen Polish antimiconic defense, including in the context of cooperation with NATO allies. The president said that the Chief of General Staff of General Kukuła declared that the army would present within 48 hours a full report devoted to what happened at night.

The president also assured that he remains in constant contact of the heads of the National Security Bureau, the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff and the Gen. Maciej Klisz, who was responsible for the Air Defense, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces.

Art. 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty states that “the parties will consult together, whenever any of them, territorial integrity, political independence or security of either party will be threatened.”

President Karol Nawrocki announced on Wednesday that The National Security Council will be convened within 48 hours In connection with the violation of the Polish airspace by Russian drones. We must then have full information to respond properly to the situation – he emphasized.

The president said that currently the services are analyzing the destruction that occurred at night in Poland. He noted that he was connected with those Poles who somehow touched the drone attack.

– This information (Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army) that within 48 hours we would have full information about what happened in Poland, prompted me to convene a national security council within 48 hours – he said.

He noted that at this RBN meeting, its participants must already have full information in order to be able to react properly to the situation.

The president added that this will be the moment when all political parties, the chairman of parliamentary clubs and the most important people in the state will discuss not only what happened, but also what to do in the future so that this kind of situation does not occur.

Cooperation between institutions is modeling and I can probably say that we are all satisfied with it – said the head of the National Security Bureau Sławomir Cenckiewicz after Wednesday's meeting at the BBN. He added that Poland found itself in an unprecedented situation.

“There was no such massive attack or invasion of drones of various nature in Poland,” said the head of the BBN. He emphasized that we cannot rule out similar attacks in the future.

Cenckiewicz appealed to use messages that come from the Operational Command of the Armed Forces and state institutions. (PAP)
