This year, Russian fishermen caught a record 310 thousand tons of salmon rocks, which led to a significant decrease in red fish and caviar prices. This was stated by the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
According to Yamal 1, by the end of the year, the total catch can reach 340-350 thousand tons, which exceeds last year (235.5 thousand tons). The basis of the catch is pink salmon (73 %) and nonsense (14 %).
Already in August, a decrease in retail prices was recorded: the caviar fell by 9 % compared to July, and the caviar of the pink salmon was 2 %.
If the trend towards reducing prices will remain on the eve of the New Year holidays, red fish and caviar will become more affordable for consumers.
