Superliga: striker Virgiliu Postolachi, transferred from CFR Cluj to the University of Cluj

FC University of Cluj and CFR have reached an agreement on the transfer of the striker Virgiliu Postolachi (25 years) to the “Students” team.

Born in the Republic of Moldova, in Edineţ, and raised in France, the 1.88-meter peak took the first steps in football right in the club yard of “Hexagon”, Paris Saint-Germain. There, Postolachi evolved in the U17 age category, to be promoted later in Group U19 due to its appreciated developments, writes news.ro.

The footballer with double citizenship, Moldovan and Romanian, also noted for the U19 team, for which he managed to mark twice in the UEFA Youth League group, in the disputed parties with Celtic Glasgow and Bayern Munich.

These achievements opened the door to the level of seniors, where Postolachi debuted in the second team's shirt of PSG, at the fourth league, managing to score five times in 36 matches played in 2017-2019.

The summer of 2019 brought to Postolachi the passage to Lille, but did not start for the first team, being only on the bench at a match with Reims on September 1, 2019. Instead, he gathered 17 for the second team in the 2019-2020 season, also at the fourth league.

After a year spent in Lille, Postolachi signed with the Belgian first, Mouscron and evolved in six matches in the first part of the competitive year, and in winter it was borrowed in the Danish second league, at Vendsyssel FF.

After checking eight more matches in the season 2021-2022 for Mouscron, Postolachi accepted for the first time a challenge in Romania and signed in July 2022 with UTA Arad. In the first season of superlig, the Moldovan scored ten times and delivered three decisive passes in 37 games in the regular and play-out season, registering a “double” and in the return of the “survival” dam disputed against FC Buzău (5-1).

After only one season in Arad, Postolachi returned to the country in which he formed and signed with Grenoble, a team from the second step, for which he scored four goals and contributed with two assists in the 33 matches in which he appeared on the field. Even his adventure did not extend over a year, as the CFR purchased in the summer of 2024. For “Vişinii”, Postolachi evolved in 38 games in the previous season and scored five times, while also managing to cross his first career trophy: the Romanian Cup.

In this beginning of the season, Postolachi checked 13 presences for CFR, of which seven in European competitions, five in Superliga and one in the Romanian Super Cup and managed to mark twice in the parties with Unirea Slobozia and Rapid from the Internal Fill.

After five matches checked for the selected U21, Postolachi took the step in the “big” national, for which he already has 30 presence. He managed to score once for the national team of his country, bringing all the points of Moldova in the match with Andorra (1-0), played in the autumn of last year in the UEFA Nations League.
