Luca Viișoreanu16 years, pilot in Formula 4 Italy and recently in Formula 4 CEZ (Central European Zone), prefaced for the Sports Gazette the Great Formula 1 prize in Monza.

The Romanian pilot knows very well the legendary Italian circuit, which he competed, and spoke about the features of the race and the duel for victory. In addition, he analyzed the current season of the Great Circus, as well as the fight for the world title between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, McLaren pilots.

  • The big formula 1 prize in Monza takes place, from 4:00 pm. Will be livetext on gsp.ro and live on antena 1 and antenaplay.ro
  • GSP Reporter Sergiu Alexandru is in Italy and transmits all information on the spot

Luca Viișoreanu: “Only Verstappen and Leclerc could make the surprise, but I think McLaren will win without problems.”

– What can we expect for MP from Monza? Is it mclaren to be unexpected? Can anyone surprise?
– On paper it seems. I think McLaren will win this race without any problems. But certainly surprises may occur. I think only Leclerc and Verstappen could surprise them here and ruin the joy of McLaren.

Luca Viișoreanu, the Romanian pilot who competed on Monza, explains the key point:

– Last year, Leclerc gave the calculations over the head. Do you see it able to do it again? Ferrari has an amazing support in Monza. Can this year be a decisive factor?
– In Italy, Ferrari is a religion. Unfortunately, the number of fans on the circuit cannot influence the performance of the car, but their passion can motivate those from Ferrari and it is clear that this year Leclerc will give everything and do everything possible to achieve the best result.

– How would you describe the Circuit from Monza, which you know best?
– It is a pretty simple circuit, there are not many turns. Especially in Formula 4, where we do not have such a powerful engine, the exits of corners matter very much. In formula 1 probably do not have the same problem.

– Is the “Temple of Speed” nicknamed, but are there other features that make it special? What do you think is the most complicated on this circuit?
The braking in turn 1 is the most complicated. It is the most violent braking in the entire championship, from the top speed on the straight line to the very low turning speed.

Luca Viișoreanu: “Perhaps the most spectacular season of the last 3 – 4 years”

– How do you think of the Formula 1 season so far?
– It is perhaps the most spectacular season of the last 3 to 4 years. McLaren has raised the level very much and we do not have only one pilot with chances for the title, as was the situation with Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing, for example. From this point of view the season is more spectacular because we have the duel between Piastri and Norris, who are on the same team and have the best car, And in the first part of the season it seemed that it would be a struggle in three and Max Verstappen. In addition, there were other pilots who managed to win races, there were many overtakes, interesting strategies, so I can say that I liked this season.

– How do you think Piastri – Norris for the title for pilots? You think the Holland stage can be decisive in view of the distance between the doI?
– It is a close struggle because they are both on the same team and have a very competitive car. Before the race in the Netherlands, the difference between them was only nine points, and after Norris's misfortune it is 34 points. I do not think, however, the title has decided here because there are still 9 races, and Norris can recover. Hard but still has chances. And anyway a recovery race would make this championship even more spectacular, which is perfect for supporters. So, from this point of view, I hope that the victory of Piastri was not decisive.

– Who surprised you the most? Who disappoints you?
– Most surprised me Isack Hadjar, who finished on the podium now in the Netherlands. It is clear that he is very talented, he was faster than the teammate, and the fact that he does not benefit from the best car is a big plus. It is probably one of the options for the Red Bull Racing team with Max Verstappen in 2026. It is hard for me to talk about disappointments because I know how complicated you are to get the best results. Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton were under my expectations because I expected to make a much better season, especially Antonelli because I usually win everywhere. I am surprised by how hard Hamilton manages to adapt with his new car.

– How complicated is such a passage, from a team like Mercedes to one like Ferrari?
– I think that at this moment, one of the important qualities of a pilot must be the way it adapts when it goes from one team to another, from one car to another. It seems that after such a long period in Mercedes he has great accommodation difficulties that he does not manage to explain fully. And I am surprised by this because I still want to win a championship, to reach 8 titles. I hope that in the next season things will be completely different for him.

– Which of the beginners do you like the most?
– I like Kimi Antonelli a lot because we frequently met on the Karting circuits in Italy, but Isack Hadjar impressed me so far.

– How do you think season 2026 with regulation changes?
– It is very difficult to anticipate who did their homework. I just hope to see two – three teams and more pilots to win races. There are many changes, both in the aerodynamic and power units, and I want to see more spectacular races. I think all this fans are waiting.

– How was 2025 for you? What follows for you this year?
– Season 2025 started very well, with a victory on Red Bull Ring in Formula 4 CEZ (Central European Zone). In the Italian Formula 4 championship I cannot say that the results were in my expectations, after last season, the first in my career in the monopostles competitions, I had an upward evolution, managing to reach the first 15 pilots. From here and my decision to try in the second part of this season to start preparing for the next step of my career.

Luca Viișoreanu, the Romanian pilot who competed on Monza, explains the key point:

– What plans do you have?
I did tests with several types of monopostens, I stay in the simulator a lot and I try to see what is the category that suits me best. There are several options, Eurocup 3, Euroformula Open, Freca, but I have not yet decided. It is certain that I will not take the direct step towards Formula 3 but I will go to an intermediate championship between Formula 4 and Formula 3 to accumulate experience. I need a deep learning process for piloting techniques and to get to know the car better. This weekend I am with the Motopark team at the Euroformula Open championship on Red Bull Ring, just to see which are the best options for 2026.
