On Tuesday, the government will deal with the act to guarantee the maintenance of energy prices at the current level – the Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyk announced on Friday. He added that from January 2026 it would be possible to move away from freezing energy prices.

He emphasized that the project was adopted on Thursday by the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers and after the government adopted it will be urgently directed to the Sejm.
– We will complete our declaration, protect Poles from increases. There will be no increases in energy prices in the last quarter of this year. We will freeze energy prices at the level of PLN 500 per MWh, as was the case in the previous three quarters – said Motyk.
– Today we see calming down in the markets, (…) That's why we want to systemally depart from the threat of energy prices, so as not to add Poles from one pocket to another, so that it just is cheaper. This is possible from January next year – he added.
When asked about the possible veto of President Karol Nawrocki to this act, he assessed that he did not see controversy in this project.
The minister pointed out that the act is comprehensive – it includes not only the electricity market, but also the issues of system heat.
He explained that the government proposed to introduce a heating voucher, which from 2026 will be paid in two tranches. Depending on heat consumption, households will receive PLN 1,000, PLN 2,000 or PLN 3,500.
At the same time, the government is planning systemic activities – renegotiations of heat tariffs, which in many cases were to be overstated.
The minister also announced that from next week consultations on the functioning of the gas market will begin. The ministry plans to increase competitiveness on the market, which can lead to price reduction.
On Thursday, the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers adopted a bill regarding the extension of freezing electricity prices by the end of 2025 and introducing a heating voucher.
It is about the draft act on the heating voucher prepared by the Ministry of Energy and on the amendment of some other acts, the project provides for maintaining the maximum electricity price for households at the level of PLN 500/MWh to 31 December 2025.
At the same time, the Ministry of Energy proposed in the same project to introduce a heating voucher, which is to support low -income farms using system heat. The support will be paid in the second half of 2025 and in the whole of 2026, and its amount will depend on heat prices – from PLN 500 to even 3.5 thousand. PLN per year. The income criterion was set at 40 percent. average salary for single -man and 30 percent For multiplayers.
The assessment of the effects of the bill regulations shows that the cost of support in the form of freezing energy prices will reach PLN 887 million in 2025–2026, and the heating voucher – will amount to PLN 889.4 million (PAP)
