UNATC launches a stand-up comedy masters: “We will give us all that this is not just a joke.” Micutzu, among teachers

Stand-up Comedy becomes university discipline in Romania. UNATC “Il Caragiale” launches a master's degree dedicated to the genre, in partnership with Headline Management and The Fool club. Among the coordinators are the comedian Cosmin Nedelcu (Micutzu), who returns to UNATC as a teacher, According to the media page.

The stand-up comedy master will be coordinated by Stefan Pavel (actor and university lecturer Dr. La UNATC), Cosmin Nedelcu (Micutzu) and Călin Crețu, CEO and founder Headline Management. The program has a duration of two years and will combine the theoretical with the practical one – from writing and improvisation to acting techniques and artistic management, complemented by the show series on the stage of The Fool club, writes the source.

When the registrations are made

The educational plan includes disciplines such as the art of comedy actor, comic techniques, verbo-vocal technique, writing, improvisation and stage practice, completed by masterclass with established stand-up, theater and film artists.

Entries are made online, between September 4-9, 2025, on the admission platform.unatc.ro/comedy-stand-up. 10 places are available, open to graduates with a bachelor's degree, regardless of the field studied.

“The only masters of its kind in the country”

Cosmin Nedelcu, known as Micutzu, says that this masters intends to give the comedy an academic and professional stakes: “The comedy needs people who take it seriously. Through this masters, we open the door for a new generation of artists who will go on stage with more strength and authenticity.”

In turn, the rector UNATC, prof. Univ. Dr. Liviu Lucaci, emphasizes the uniqueness of the initiative: “The only masters of its kind in the country and one of the few in Europe has opened its doors to UNATC. As for Cosmin Nedelcu, alias Micutzu, a brilliant UNATC graduate, which I could say, than is the best teacher for those who want to reach his stand-up.”

“A key moment for industry”

For Călin Crețu, founder of Headline Management, the program marks a key moment for the industry. He believes that “the most talented young people will now have a school to form, learn from mistakes and build a sustainable career.”

Also, Stefan Pavel, actor and lecturer at UNATC, says that “laughter is not easy” and that is why comedy must be treated seriously: “The spectators' laughter is not easy, but this challenge makes comedy an authentic artistic act.
