The Prosecutor General of the District of Colombia, Brian Schwalb sued on Thursday US President Donald Trump for sending the National Guard to the streets of Washington, “Washington Post said.

A lawsuit filed by prosecutor Schwalb aims to force Trump's administration to withdraw the national guard from the city and prevent it from taking similar actions in the future – the newspaper wrote. The prosecutor described the President's sending guards as an illegal “military occupation”, which transformed domestic soldiers into the local police.

This is the second lawsuit filed by the prosecutor against Trump after the president on August 11 announced the takeover of control over the Washington police and sending the National Guard to the streets, arguing this fight against crime.

The mayor of the district of Colombia, who has no status, does not control the Washington National Guard. The president commands her. However, according to Schwalb, the president exceeded his rights, and soldiers are used illegally for the purposes of enforcement.

About 2.3 thousand are stationed in the US capital. National Guard soldiers, including guards to the city by the governors of seven states. Soldiers are most visible at the National Mall in the city center and at metro stations. According to the Journal, the Trump Administration plans to extend the stationing of the National Guard in Washington until the end of the year.
