Donald Trump received the protection of Kamali Harris. “Act of political revenge”

According to American law, former Vice Presidents of the United States are protected by Secret Service for six months after the end of their term. In the case of Harris Kamala, which ended his office on January 20, 2025, the standard protection period expired on July 21. Even before the end of his presidency, Joe Biden decided to extend it for another year.
On September 1, President Donald Trump withdrew this decision, thus ending the federal protection for Kamali Harris. From that moment, the vice president not only ceased to be protected by Secret Service agents, but also lost access to information about potential threats.
This decision was made just before Harris began the world route promoting its latest book “107 days”, covering 15 stops on various continents.
Kamala Harris without the protection of Secret Service
After the decision of Trump's administration, the safety of Kamali Harris was partly taken over by the police Los Angeles. According to Fox 11, an unmarked vehicle with at least two civilian officers was noticed in the drive of her house in the Brentwood district. According to journalists, Harris currently protects 14 officers of the elite Metro Division unit.
The information provided by local media shows that the officers were “distracted from current activities related to combating crime” to be able to secure Harris. In addition, according to “Los Angeles Times”, the former vice president also received a proposal to protect the road police California, although it is not known whether it was finally accepted. Such support would require the consent of the governor of California, Gavina Newsoma.
Trump's decision was criticized by representatives of local authorities. The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, described her as “another act of political revenge”, which – in her opinion – exposes the former vice president to real danger. “
The Governor of California also took the floor. “The safety of our public officials should never be the subject of unpredictable, vindictive political impulses,” he said in a message cited by Fox 11.
