She explained that the woodpecker has seven times less human and a concussion of the brain can only be with a force of impact of 1 thousand gravitational accelerations (GS), and when working with a beak, this indicator is only about 400 GS.

She said that woodpeckers are hollowing trees for three reasons:
- Pick up bugs or larvae to eat;
- make hollow in the nesting period (in the spring – in the summer);
- In the nesting period, they mean their territory, scare away competitors and attract females.
The woodpecker makes a new hollow every year, and in the old other birds can nest, the ornithologist explained. This is called the “secondary housing fund.”
According to the expert, the woodpecker will never hammer a healthy tree, as well as do hollow in it. A bird can knock on it, but only to make a sound – the bark will not damage.
The woodpecker lives for about 10 years.
