The mayor of the city wrote on Facebook that he is “deeply shocked by the tragedy spent this evening in the civic center of Vaslui”.
“I do not find the right words to express the pain I feel, and my thoughts and prayers go to the hard -tried family. It is inconceivable for a public space to become a source of danger,” wrote Lucian Braniște.
He also said he had “urgent checks” so that “such a tragedy would never be repeated in Vaslui”.

The incident took place on Monday night. The boy, one year and eight months old, stepped on the grass at one point, where there were several street lighting spots.
“Around 21 o'clock, there was a call to 112, who reported that a child about a year and a half was electrocuted in the central area of the city, from the street lighting,” said the doctor Dan Ungureanu from Vaslui Ambulance.
At the arrival of the SMURD crew, the child was unconscious. He was resuscitated for an hour, but without success. Following the incident, the child's mother needed medical care, while dozens of people gathered in the civic market, shocked by what happened.
On the spot, several policemen arrived who delimited the area where the child was electrocuted, as well as the mayor of Vaslui, Lucian Braniște.
