“Every fall, when the owners clean the gardens and personal plots, a dangerous practice appears again – burning dry grass, leaves and plant residues. It would seem that this is a quick way to restore order, but in fact it carries great harm to the nature, health of people and can turn into serious fines,” the environmentalists noted.
What is the danger
During burning, carbon monoxide, dust, heavy metals and carcinogenic substances are released, as a result of which the light, cardiovascular system and human immunity suffer.
“Fire destroys the useful microflora and destroys nutrients. The earth becomes poorer, and the crop is worse. In dry grass and leaves, insects, small animals and birds live. Fire ruthlessly takes their lives,” the environmental inspectorate emphasized.
In addition, fire can get out of control and provoke a large-scale fire.
What does the law say
In Ukraine, there is a ban on burning dry grass and vegetation. For citizens, fines are provided in the amount of 3.06 thousand UAH to 6.12 thousand UAH. For the official, the amount of the fine is from 15.3 thousand UAH to 21.42 thousand UAH.
