The basic salary of the janitor at school is PLN 4680-4700 gross, school conservator and chef PLN 4740-4800 gross. The basic salary of a beginner teacher with a master's degree of master's degree and pedagogical preparation is not much higher – it is PLN 5,153 gross.


This year, the increase in teachers' salaries was 5 percent, and in 2026 – according to the budget project – it is to amount to 3 percent. The Polish Teachers' Union demands an increase of 10 %, and ultimately connecting the pay of teachers with the amount of average salary in the economy. According to trade unionists, the amount of teachers' wages does not motivate young people to take up the work of a teacher, for years there is also an argument that the salary of a beginner teacher is not much different from the wage of auxiliary staff.
The amount of teachers' remuneration is regulated by the Teacher Card Act and the Regulation of the Minister of Education on the minimum rates of the basic salary of teachers.
This is what teachers earn in 2025
The teacher's card specifies the amount of the average salary of teachers at individual degrees of teacher's professional promotion – expressed in percentage in relation to the base amount specified annually in the Budget Act. This year, the base amount was set at PLN 5,434.82. This means that The average salary of a beginner teacher should amount to PLN 6,672.31 gross, appointed teacher PLN 7826.14 gross, and a qualified teacher PLN 10,000.07 gross. This is an amount that local governments are obliged to guarantee a full -time job in an annual basis. So it does not mean that every teacher receives such a sum every month.
In addition to the basic salary, the average salary of teachers also includes additions to it. They are specified in the teacher's card. There are a dozen or so, including for years, functional (resulting from performing a managerial function, for a mentor, for a class teacher, methodical advisor teacher, consultant teacher), in motivational, for working conditions, jubilee award, award from a special prize fund, additional remuneration for work at night, additional annual remuneration (so-called thirteen), retirement and freedom. work, remuneration for oversized hours and ad hoc replacements.
The amount of some add -ons depends on the amount of basic salary (e.g. internship allowance and remuneration for oversized hours) – the increase in basic salary causes the automatic increase in components dependent on it. Local governments in remuneration regulations decide about the amount of other additions.
“The system is fully dependent on politicians”
Teachers' trade unions have been emphasizing for years that for the actual amount of remuneration of individual teachers, the amount of basic salary is key, because as they emphasize, There is no teacher who would receive a jubilee award every month, supplement for work at night, benefit for start and retirement briefing, and the average salary is a legal and accounting construct. They call the current reward system of arbitrary teachers, fully dependent on politicians' decisions.
Pursuant to the regulation in force this year, the minimum basic salary of a beginner teacher with a professional title of master's degree and pedagogical preparation is PLN 5,153 gross, appointed teacher – PLN 5310 gross, a qualified teacher – PLN 6211 gross. Teachers with a master's degree of master and pedagogical preparation are the most numerous group – it is over 95 percent. all teachers.
Local governments may grant teachers a higher basic salary than it results from the Regulation of the Minister of Education at minimum rates. In practice, the basic pay for a beginner teacher after pedagogical studies is not much higher than auxiliary staff in schools or kindergartens.
How does non -pedagogical staff count?
The amount of remuneration Non -pedagogical employees of schools and kindergartens are regulated by the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on the remuneration of local government employees. It contains a table with 20 categories of employee grade. Pursuant to it from March 1, 2025, the amount of minimum basic salary in the first grade is PLN 4,666 gross (i.e. it is equal to the minimum remuneration for work that is valid from January 1, 2025). This is the basic salary, among others kitchen assistance and smoker's help.
The amount of the minimum basic salary in the second category is PLN 4,680 gross, to this category are assigned: the guardian of children and youth during transport to and from school, when crossing the road on the way to and from school, cleaner, smoker, janitor. Category III with a basic salary of PLN 4,700 gross is an older janitor. Category IV with a basic salary of PLN 4,720 gross is a teacher's help. Category V with a basic salary of PLN 4,740 gross is a conservator and a chef. Category VII with a salary of PLN 4,780 gross is a secretary and a younger accountant.
Category VIII with a salary of PLN 4,800 gross is an older chef, chef and senior conservator. Category IX with a salary of PLN 4820 gross is an OSH inspector and a senior accountant. ZNP wants to connect wages with average salary
