Secondary schools in Italy are preparing to enforce a ban on the use of mobile phones from the new school year. Special key cabinets are being prepared, case hooks for telephones and places where they will be deposited.

Pursuant to the decision of the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditary from the new school year, starting in the first half of September, the ban on using mobile phones previously introduced in primary and junior high schools, was also expanded to second -cycle high school, i.e. high school and technician.
As the head of the ministry explained, it will be forbidden to use the phones also for didactic purposes.
The daily “La Repubblica” noted on Tuesday that School heads and staff choose the method of storing cells during the lesson. The newspaper points out that the use of a ministerial ban will not be easy, because students assess it as a punishment.
Ideas in schools are different:
- Wall pockets with compartments for devices suspended in classes,
- Hooks for cases with phones,
- cabinets,
- containers,
- Depository at the entrance to school.
Decisions are made on pedagogical councils, and additional costs are often necessary.
The director of the high school at Palermo Fabio Angelini told the journal that his facility decided to buy special containers. They cost around 15 euros.
Key cabinets are much more expensive; One costs around 70 euros.
Teachers also ask questions that they do not find the answer in the minister's circular: for example, whether it will be allowed to use phones during teaching trips on the bus or how to proceed in the case of the theft of a deposited phone.
Because, as you notice, the new rules will not be painless for students, the management of some high schools want to agree with them how to be used.
