The Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday, in an online message that the spokesman of the Palestinian Hamas movement was “eliminated” in Gaza following a blow to the Israeli army, AFP reports.
“The Terrorist spokesman of Hamas, Abu Obaida, was eliminated in Gaza and went next to the others of the evil axis in Iran, Lebanon and Yemen at the bottom of hell,” Katz wrote on his X account.
The Hamas group, against which Israel is in the war in the Gaza strip, has not yet confirmed the information.
A little earlier Sunday, before the weekly meeting of the Israeli government, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “we took a blow against the spokesman of Hamas (…) Abu Obaida,” Reuters reports.
“I hope it is no longer among us, but I notice that there is no one from Hamas to clarify this issue,” added Netanyahu, according to a statement.
On Saturday, the Israeli army announced that he “hit a key terrorist in the city of Gaza”, without specifying the identity, but the Israeli media indicated that it was Abu Obaida.
