Russia has launched a major air attack on Ukrainian regions on Friday night, killing a person and hurting about twenty in Zaporojie, according to local authorities, and President Volodimir Zelenski asked Washington and Brussels to take action, AFP reports.
Diplomatic efforts to find a solution to the Ukraine war has accelerated in recent weeks, under the leadership of Donald Trump, but so far no concrete results.
Russia, on the contrary, has intensified its air attacks, launching a record number of drones against Ukraine.
At least one person was killed and about twenty other injured in the night attacks in Zaporojie, a big city in the south, reported emergency services on Telegram. Three minors, between the ages of 9 and 16, were hospitalized.
The photographs distributed by the Ukrainian authorities, including Zelenski, show buildings in ruins and firefighters who fight the flames.

Dozens of buildings and housing were left without electricity and gas due to the attacks, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov.
The Russian army has launched 582 drones and rockets overnight, Ukrainian air forces said, adding that they had shot down 510 drones and 38 enemy missiles. Five missiles and 24 drones hit seven places, scraps fell into another 21 places, according to the quoted source.
In total, 14 regions were affected by this offensive, according to President Aeski.
The attacks caused fires in the Dnipropetrovsk region (center-east of Ukraine), according to its governor, Sergei Lisak.
