The importance of permission was also emphasized by President of Pej Marek Woszczyk. The last year and a half, the Pej company has devoted a wide environmental research, which allowed, among others to accurately determine the condition of the area and transfer of protected species. As the investor points out, these activities resulted from an environmental decision issued by the General Director of Environmental Protection and were an indispensable element preceding the start of works.
Over 3.7 GW of power
According to the plan, the first activities will include geodetic designation of the area and the preparation of the construction facilities. In parallel, inspections will be carried out in terms of archaeological sites and possible unexplodeds. It is only later, at the turn of October and November, that the cutting of trees and shrubs will start, which is to end by spring 2026.
The “Lubiatowo-Kopalino” power plant, with a capacity of 3750 MWe, is being built in the Choczewo commune in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The project already has key decisions – environmental and location – and from 2023 a geological research is conducted in the location. The Pej company continues in parallel efforts for further administrative permits, including the State Nuclearian Agency.
According to the schedule, the first electricity from the Polish nuclear power plant is to flow in the second half of the 1930s. The investment is referred to as the largest infrastructure undertaking in Poland and is to provide the country with a stable energy source in the perspective of several decades.
