The former defender of the Romanian champion, Novak Martinovici, 40, speaks from the capital of Serbia about FCSB's future movement on “Maracana”, in the giant group. Explains what chances offer to Romanians in Belgrade and describes the strengths and fragility of Zvezdei
Novak Martinovici has evolved in FCSB for almost three seasons, between 2010-2012, passed the Romanian Cup in 2011 and remained an honorable Romanian speaker.
This is even if he left Bucharest for over 13 years! But he has kept friends here, visits Bucur's city from time to time and seeks to be connected to what is happening through Carpathian football. Now, he is waiting with emotion the future Red Star-FCSB, two bands on his CV of player
Novak Martinovici: “A match that will fill” Maracana “”
– Novak, we will have the Belgrade Red Star – FCSB in the Europa League group. How was the drawing draw there?
– Here is the whole set of matches, with respect for each opponent. And the world now considers the Europa League as the portion through which the Red Star can save the trouble in the Champions League play-off. Fans and media hope that the team will reach the competition as high as possible.
– Is there FCSB or Steaua?
– Steaua and only Steaua, the winner of the European Champions Cup! It will be a match that will definitely fill “maracana”. The favorite red star has invested a lot of money in transfers, led by Arnautovic, who became the most expensive player in the history of the internal championship. He still has time to end the team. FCSB will of course have her chance. It souls, I would bet on an X, but, rationally, the difference seems to me an important one in favor of the Red Star.
“High quality in attack, more fragile defensive”

-Pafos managed to eliminate them from the Champions League, why would FCSB not succeeded?
– The Red Star has hit and not. He received a goal in the last seconds, he did not go into extensions, where things could be different. Probably the team will sit better in the following weeks, to the Europa League parties and will avoid the mistakes with Pafos.
– The strength?
– Offensive! They have high quality on attack, experienced players, decisive at any time. But more fragile in the defensive phase, as proof and one of Pafos's goals in Belgrade, coming on a transitional moment, with three to four quick passes, which destabilized the defense.
The Red Star has spent a lot of money on transfers, in all compartments, dreaming of another participation in the Champions League. I was born now! Where does the consistent budget come from? Sponsors, transfers, everyone helps Serbia's flag club here!

“Incredible what spirit has FCSB in Europe!”

FCSB started with the brake pulled in the internal championship
– You have probably noticed that FCSB started the Romanian championship disastrous. Do you follow the events in Liga 1?
– Not a stage stage, but yes – I look, as long as the time allows me! It is a little strange this discrepancy between Europe and Liga 1, but at FCSB it is no news. And when I played there, there was this division of forces at the beginning of the season on the two objectives, there were problems in the matches in the country, but look at what an incredible spirit in Europe has! It's something about the history and DNA of the club! Of course, the weaker start probably indicates some deficiencies, but it is enough time to recover internally.
– Do you have connections to the Red Star?
– I am a good friend with Zvezdan Terzic, the general manager of the club. He does an extraordinary job, knows how to manage the mercato period, choose and sell players, co -opt. Here, the big companies bring serious money to the budget of Steaua Roșie, which is a topic of national representativeness.
Of the former colleagues in Bucharest, I still keep in touch with Nikolici, Iliev, Latovlevici. I see that Nikolici still shoots in Romania, in Zalău, in the third league!

“I love Belgrade and Bucharest as much”
– What are you currently dealing with?
– I have two restaurants in Belgrade, I plan to open the third. Football has remained great love, but here it is difficult to work in the phenomenon. You need a lot of relationships, support. My heart remains on the ground, equally at the Red Star and the Steaua București, I will definitely be on the stadium at the time of the match.

Novak Martinovici was one of the most loved by the red-blue fans
– Did you put on some Romanian dishes in menus?
– No, but I recently lived an episode that excited me. I have one of the restaurants right in the center of Belgrade and, one day, a family of Romanians, parents and a little girl, were walking in front of the terrace, and the father came to approach me: “Didn't you be a footballer at Steaua?”. “Yes!”, I replied, I changed a few more words and they left. But it was a moment that made me feel proud. I love Belgrade as much, and Bucharest!
