The conclusions of unions and employers at the end of the discussion with Prime Minister Bolojan. Today the new pack of reforms is to be adopted

After the meeting that lasted about two hours, the representatives of the trade unions and patronage were unhappy with the measures included in the second package of measures meant to reduce the budget deficit.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan participated in the Tripartite National Council on Friday. Also today, the Government will adopt the second package of measures meant to bring more money to the budget.

Bogdan Șchiop, the presidents of the National Federation of Administration Trade Unions, claim that he attended “the closure and practically the greatest politicization of the public administration in Romania”.

40 thousand budgets expelled, equivalent to the subsidies for parties

He told the government representatives that the savings they expect, 2.5 billion lei, the payment of unemployment is added, and the contributions to social insurance will be a decrease.

“As a result, I think that 40,000 people expelled is made an economy equivalent to the amount that was transferred to the political parties from 2024 to May 2025, ie one billion four hundred million lei,” said the leader of the FNS.

“Easy-guy stabilizes”

Dumitru Costin, the leader of the National Trade Union Block, says that the Government meeting was more information. He asked for the introduction of transparency criteria for persons who hold public functions and for political appointments there are contracts for a fixed period.

“You come with the politician who is chosen or put in office, you leave with him. Do not stay, move to the left or right and fill the scheme,” said Costin.

Asked about who is most affected by the two tax packages, Dumitru Costin says that things are mixed: “We are talking about measures that affect jobs, and not a few, in the public sector. The prime minister even said that there is no problem, that the available will find their jobs very quickly.”

“On the second package there are measures that target the public area and measures on the public health area, easy-to-stabilize. As each time they will settle are ordinary citizens,” said Costin.

Dissatisfaction from the clerks

When it comes to the project aimed at service pensions, Cătălin Traistaru, representative of clerks and auxiliary staff, said that he requested the withdrawal of the draft law to modify the conditions of retirement.

The draft law that reduces 70% of the net income of service pensions affects the pensions of the auxiliary personnel and the clerks.

“The resulting pension will be smaller than the one on contributivity. The prime minister has shown that he will go forward with this draft law in Parliament,” said Traistaru.

They will also ask for the stage of retirement age, the amount of the pension and the updating of the service pension.

Cătălin Traistaru also reminded of the protests of the magistrates and said that they will analyze if it is justified to increase the forms of protest because “the government still does not lean on the real problems in the system – raising the retirement age will make my colleagues retirement by 10 years, considering that the age of 35”.

“You need more dialogue”

Dan Șucu, representative of the employers, says that the discussion with the prime minister was clarifying and appreciates “the fact that he is seriously struggling with tax evasion.”

Steric Fudulea, the first vice-president of IMM Romania, said that he highlighted the fact that more dialogue is needed to work more intensely on proposals.

Asked if the prime minister told them what the impact of these measures was, Fudulea said that “we were not communicated to us, we do not even know what the impact of the first packages, it is probably too early.”

Moreover, says Fudulea, the prime minister suggested to the representatives of unions and patronage to send the amendments to the parliamentarians.

“The educational system is the most hit”

Simion Hăncescu, the president of the Federation of Free Education Trade Unions (FSLI), said that the prime minister was reproached that the educational system is most affected by the measures included in the package.

“I reproached the prime minister that we were expecting in the second package to give up a series of measures in education because as things are presented at the moment, this system is the most hit. I told the prime minister,” Hăncescu said.

He says that after combining some schools, there will be children who will walk, considerable distances to school: “Is this no longer management. What do you save? 300 lei?”.

The leader of FSLI says that teachers' protests will continue and that the school year “will start in front of the Victoriei Palace, Cotroceni Palace”. He continued by saying that on the first day of school it is expected that 30,000 teachers will go out, in Bucharest and the rest of the country.

The final decision regarding the start of the general strike will be taken after the teachers return to the chancellors, Hănescu said. The trade unionists have threatened in recent weeks that they will boycott the beginning of the school year as a sign of protest for the education measures in the first package.

The measures will pass by the government today

The government will meet today, from 4 pm, in the meeting to adopt the measures and then, until Monday, the parliamentarians will be able to submit amendments.

At the beginning of next week, the prime minister will go to Parliament to take responsibility for the measures that have been divided into several packages. After this step, the opposition has three days to submit a censorship motion.
