The ban on selling alcohol at night is already in many places in Poland. Since 2018, about 180 municipalities introduced the Night Prohibition. In large cities, restrictions operate, among others in Krakow, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk or Biała Podlaska. Partial bans apply in centers, including Poznań, Wrocław or Katowice. In recent months, Giżycko, Słupsk and Szczecin joined this group.

Two draft resolutions were given to the assessment of the districts: Proposal of President Rafał Trzaskowski assuming a ban on the sale of alcohol in stores and at gas stations between 23.00 and 6.00 and The left and city design is our more restrictive variant – from 22.00 to 6.00.
The presidential project also provides for a longer, three -month preparatory period, while the left councilors wanted the regulations to enter into force 14 days after the publication.
The ban would not include gastronomic premises – restaurants, pubs and bars.
– District positions will be an important premise for the decisions of the city councilors – emphasized the Vice -President of the Warsaw Council Sławomir Potapowicz. However, he stipulated that the final result of the vote remains open.
Chairman of the PiS councilors club Dariusz Figura said that the result of consultation results from the political guidelines of the Civic Coalition. – It is no secret that the councilors of the KO in the districts got tips to vote against, even towards the project of their president He said, forecasting that resolutions could be finally rejected.

Councilor Ko Michał Matejka announced that he would convince the club to reject resolutions. – Warsaw is a safe city. Prohibition would only make sense if it covered the whole city. Otherwise, customers will move to neighboring districts – he noted.
