German investigators identified the identity of the entire crew of the “Andromeda” yacht. Six Ukrainians and one Ukrainian are suspected of blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipeline – writes “Sueddeutsche Zeitung” on Tuesday.

Explosions on Nord Stream 1 and 2 in September 2022 “SZ” calls “perhaps the most spectacular act of sabotage in the history of Europe.” He considers the German investigation into a “solid police work”, which It consisted of, among others on “securing fingerprints”, “DNA tests” and “analysis of photo -camera photos”. After almost three years – as “SZ” assesses – the investigator “managed to arrange the puzzle”.
Sabotage against the state (German – PAP), intentionally causing an explosion of explosives and the destruction of infrastructure – for such acts there is up to 15 years in prison. At least, this was written in one of the six arrest orders, which the German Federal Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe issued in the case – we read in “Sueddeutsche Zeitung”.
The first of them has already been made. On August 21, the Italian police detained one of the suspects in Rimini. The man who has previously been issued a European arrest warrant is 49-year-old Serhij K. Ukrainian rejects all the allegations.
German investigators know the identity of the entire crew of the “Andromeda” yacht, which on September 7, 2022 sailed from the yacht port in Rostock – writes “SZ”. There were to be seven people on board, all from Ukraine. Among them, among others A deep diver and an experienced ocean sailor. “There are tips that Ukrainian state institutions could at least partially help this seven alleged sabotage artists,” says “SZ”.
One of the suspects is K., who from December 29, 2024 appears in the registers of the Kiev police as a “missing person”. The man probably fell in the war with Russia. Before sending to the front in the summer of 2024 he officially stayed in Germany, where he was trained by the Bundeswehra. Traces of his DNA were found on “Andromeda”.
The first identified suspect was Wołodymyr Z., who was to leave Poland in a car registered for the then military attach of Ukraine – notes “Sz”. The yacht crew was to use counterfeit Bulgarian passports and real Ukrainian, but with false data. As a breakthrough in the investigation, Germans consider a photo from a speed camera that captured the crew car aimed at “Andromeda”.
Navigation was to be dealt with by the Szyper, officially under the Bulgarian document issued in the name and surname “Mihail Popov”. According to investigators, he is an experienced sailor from Odessa, in the past a participant in prestigious regatta, including in the Bahamas. It was identified thanks to the fingerprint of “Andromeda”, which suited the data obtained during his earlier stay in the Netherlands.
Among the suspects is Waleria T., who specializes in night diving.
The federal government is familiar with the details of the investigation. “SZ” emphasizes that the authorities in Berlin separate the investigation into Nord Stream from “unwavering political support” for Ukraine.
“SZ” estimates that the Nord Stream case “can again cause a political earthquake”, especially if considered to be the coordinator of the Serhij K. group begins to testify.
“The investigation is ongoing. Germany wants to know: how (the crew of” Andromeda “) won real passports with false data? Who financed the action? Who gave the order? And who was informed about everything? ” – the journal writes.
