Although he put Romania on the map due to the fantastic results obtained in the world of birth, where he was double awarded with gold, David Popovici does not deny his modest character towards fans.

The young champion, 20 years old, enjoys free time without luxury and extravagance, although his bank account can completely support the opposite. Recently, David visited Sibiu, in love with his country and everything he can offer.
On Wednesday night, David Popovici had dinner with a friend in the Little Square. The athlete was not disturbed in the public space, on the contrary, his intimacy was respected by the people around him.
At the end of the evening, David agreed to do forgraphs with the restaurant employees, but also with some of the tourists in the area. Honored by the visit of the World Champion, the location holders posted a message of admiration on social networks. “We are glad that we had on the terrace a champion that inspires. Thank you for the visit, David Popovici!”was the message posted by the restaurant owners.
“He is a young man with great sense!”
The locals were pleasantly surprised by the kindness and positive attitude with which David Popovici treated. The young man smiled, respected and thanked the people for support.
“He stayed at a table to the tower and after serving the dinner he was kind to everyone and took pictures. But he's great, super that is very good!”said a local, according to the Tower of Advice.
A real pride in Romania
Until the age of 20, David Popovici has already won many important medals. In 2022 he took gold at the World Championships, in 2024 he repeated the performance, and in 2025 he was double gold medal at the Singapore World Cup.
It is four times a European champion: two titles in Rome in 2022 and two in Belgrade, in 2024. At the 2024 Olympic Games he won gold at 200 m and bronze at 100 m.
