The Minister of Economy, Radu Miruță, said that, on Wednesday, in Germany, the contractual framework was finalized to make a powder factory for ammunition, “built from scratch, which has the chance to be the most efficient in the world.”
In the statement sent on Wednesday, the Ministry of Economy said that the project will be carried out in Victoria, Brașov county, and will be “the most modern powder factory in the world”.
“Together with Rheinmetall, the largest European weapons producer, we will produce in Romania the powder needed for the defense industry, both for the internal needs and for the entire region,” said Minister Radu Miruță, on Wednesday, in a Facebook post.
He said that “the value of the investment is 535 million euros”.
“The construction of the factory will start next year, it will take 3 years and will guarantee 700 direct jobs in the area. Through this investment Romania provides the necessary fuel to the armament industry and a role of relevant regional player in the field,” added Miruță.
According to the Romanian Minister, the ceremony took place in the presence of the CEO Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, and officials such as NATO Secretary General, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, German Deputy Chancellor Lars Klingbeil and Bulgarian Rumen Ramarm, participated in the event.

Radu Miruță says that today's event was preceded by “a few intense weeks of discussions and negotiations, of serious work, with respect for partners, but with the firmness to defend the national interest.”
The Minister of Economy argues that in taking over the mandate he “found a contract with commercial provisions considered” nailed “, but managed to obtain” in addition to Romania: vetoing on major decisions; obligation to involve the Romanian suppliers in the project; correct license costs; a clearly quantified participation for the Romanian state “.
“Compared to the contractual form I took over, the negotiations led to an economy for the Romanian state of over 93 million euros. This result was possible with the support of the Presidential Administration and the Prime Minister, but also due to a team of trained professionals, who earned the respect of the German partners. said Miruță.
