In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, scientists of the Siberian Federal University discovered a unique burial of the warrior of the Scythian era, dating from the VI century BC. The main find was a rare combat iron chain for that time, which speaks of the high status of the buried.
The find was made on the banks of the Kem River, the tributary of the Yenisei. A buried man owned a whole set of valuable artifacts: a belt with bronze plaques depicting predatory birds, a buckle with the head of Archara, a set of knives, axes, onions with arrows and even a polished metal mirror.
According to the head of the laboratory of the archeology of the Yenisei Siberia SFU Pavel Mandryki, it is the iron weapon that makes the find exceptional.
“Iron has become wide in this part of the world only after five centuries, closer to the 2nd century BC, during the expansion of the geography of the Hunnu military campaigns. It can be said that the found warrior had a rare and advanced artifact for his time, ”the scientist noted.
The style of jewelry on the warrior belt also told researchers his story. It turned out that he was most likely an alien from the south-west-from the territories of Upper Oblaya, and not from the neighboring Minusinsk basins or teu, from where migrations usually expected.
Together with the remains of the warrior, the details of the horse harness were also found, which confirms his high status. According to scientists, mirrors made of polished bronze in that era were not only the subject of luxury, but also probably carried a ritual function.
