In the second round of the early elections of President Zabrze, Ewa Weber (KWW Ewa Weber) and Kamil Żbikowski (KWW Better Zabrze Kamil Żbikowski) faced Ewa Weber (KWW Ewa Weber).
There were about 116.7 thousand entitled to vote in Zabrze in 140,000 residents.
Early elections were necessary after the May referendum, in which the residents dismissed Agnieszka Rupniewska from the position of the president. However, the city council could not be dismissed – the attendance threshold was not achieved. Rupniewska managed Zabrze for a year, winning local government elections in 2024 and defeating Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik, who ruled the city for 18 years.

In the first round, Weber received 39.29 percent. votes, and Żbikowski 16.14 percent Other candidates: Borys Borówka-15.29 percent, Sebastian Dziebowski-14.09 percent, Rafał Kobos-9.88 percent, Łucja Chrzęstek-Bar-5.31 percent The attendance amounted to 27.87 percent.
Presidential elections in Zabrze. Residents decided
16,031 voters voted for Żbikowski in the second round, while his opponent received the support of 15,925 people. Ultimately, the difference between candidates was only 106 votes. The attendance at the urns reached 27.4 percent.
Shortly after the announcement of the results, Żbikowski emphasized that such an even result shows the need for cooperation and conversation above divisions. – I would like us to enjoy the effects of this term and lead the city towards a better future – said the new president.

As his priorities, he pointed out, among others Finishing the privatization process of the Górnik Zabrze club and the fight to return the investment in the academic hospital, which Gliwice took over last year. He also announced the creation of a schedule for obtaining external funds for the city. Even before the announcement of official results, congratulations were given to him by Lukas Podolski, a miner player and an entrepreneur involved in talks about the future of the club.
Kamil Żbikowski. Who is the new president of Zabrze?
38-year-old Żbikowski is not associated with any political party. He started on behalf of the election committee of voters “Better Zabrze”. From 2018, he has been a mandate of a city councilor. Twice earlier, he unsuccessfully applied for the position of the Mayor of the City – in 2018 and in 2024.
He is a lawyer and economist by profession, he also studied history and political sciences. He professionally manages international projects. In Zabrze he was involved in numerous local initiatives, including The projects “city -creators Zabrze” or “We save Zabrze monuments”, as well as the “Bicycle diameter” campaign. He is a co -creator of the Silesian Bicycle Initiative and the founder of the Social Movement better Zabrze.
