– The West perfectly understands that a serious discussion of security guarantee without Russia is a utopia, a path leading nowhere – said Lavrov after talks with his Jordanian counterpart in Moscow. – We cannot accept that collective security issues should now be considered without Russia – he added.

Lavrov stated that European politicians are trying to “ineptly” influence Donald Trump regarding Ukraine. He accused them of bringing “aggressive escalation” without putting “any constructive ideas”.

– For now, Europeans are only trying to keep the United States in the arms race, “he said.

He was satisfied with that “it is a completely adventurous, confrontational and inciting position to war in the current American administration”, which in his opinion strives to “help eliminate the original causes of the conflict.”

Russia perceives NATO's expansion along its borders as an existential threat, the desire to join Ukraine to the North Atlantic Alliance was one of the reasons for Moscow's attack – assessed the AFP agency. The Kremlin also does not agree to the distribution of the European Military Contingent in Ukraine after the conclusion of a peace agreement (as proposed by several EU countries, including France).

Russia is ready to negotiate at every level of delegation – emphasized Lavrov. He repeated, however, that every meeting of the leaders of Ukraine and Russia should be a culmination of negotiations and should be prepared with the utmost care so that such a peak “does not lead to deterioration of the situation.”

Ready to talk, but also to the next conquests

The Russian special services are trying to convince the West that the Kremlin's army will take the entire Donbass this year, but this is absolutely impossible – said Andrij Kałenko, the head of the Ukrainian government center of counteracting disinformation (CPD) on Wednesday.

“The Russians are constantly trying to press on the front, especially in the east. At the same time, Russia's foreign intelligence service is trying to convince the West with its channels that its army may occupy the entire Donetsk circuit this year. This information, of course, does not correspond to reality or the real situation on the front,” he emphasized.

Kałenko explained that the ambitious – and loud – Kremlin's plans are not accompanied by successes on the fight line. “Their daily losses in the killed and wounded since the beginning of the year are on average about 1,200 people. Despite the large forces involved in Donbass, supplementation with reserves does not compensate for the losses they suffer in everyday assaults,” he noted.

“Yes, the fights are very difficult. But Russia is not able to occupy the Donetsk region,” added the head of CPD, which operates within the structures of the National Security Council and the defense of Ukraine.

Similarly, the situation around Donbass was assessed by the American Institute of War Studies (ISW). According to his analysts, Russia is not able to gain Donbass by force – this is evidenced by the fact that it has not done it for over a decade.

“Russia will not be able to quickly master the remaining (controlled by Ukraine – PAP) part of the Donetsk region by force. It could only do so if Ukraine decided to withdraw from there,” emphasized in the latest ISW report.

Ukraine is afraid of another aggression

View of the US President Donald Trump and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelanski talking in the White House at the map with the designated front line He aroused in Ukrainians that this consequences may be territorial concessions towards Russia and its further aggression – Financial Times said on Wednesday.

The British daily reminded that the American leader before meeting Russia's leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska insisted that the end of the war in Ukraine may require a “reliance of territories.” During the conversation in Anchorage Putin as a condition of the conclusion of peace, he demanded that the Ukrainian side give away the entire territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk District, some of which is located under Russian occupation.

According to the newspaper, this caused anxiety among Ukrainians, despite the fact that both Zelanski himself and his European allies denied that they would agree to such a concession. For the Ukrainian authorities, this is not only a “issue of political conflict, but also is the preparation of land for further aggression from Russia.”

We have our red lines: no restrictions on our sovereignty, no recognition of any Ukraine's territory for part of Russia and refusal to give away areas that are not currently occupied by Russia – mentioned Jehor Czerniew, vice -chairman of the National Security Committee, Defense and Intelligence of the Supreme Council (Parliament) of Ukraine.

According to analysts and military, withdrawal from the strongly fortified part of the Donetsk region, which is still occupied by Ukrainian forces, would have far -reaching military consequences. “It would be a disaster,” said Pawło Norożny, a military analyst and head of Reactive Post, a Ukrainian organization supporting the artillery unit in an interview with the Financial Times. In his opinion, this could lead to the “immediately dropped by the Russian army of bombs soaring on the Dnipropetrovsk circuit, which will threaten the industrial center of Zaporozhye from the east and from the south.”

The editors noted that regardless of the military effects of making such a decision, Ukrainian leaders would meet with strong opposition from a large part of society, political elites and the army. The results of a survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, which in June, showed that 78 percent Ukrainians reject the idea of giving territories as a way to end the war.

“We can't even discuss it,” said Wołodymyr Ariew, an opposition MP in the Ukrainian Parliament. In his opinion, “the voluntary abandonment of the Donetsk region would mean that people from each political option would be accused of treason.”
