Standing with President Donald Trump on Friday, in Alaska, Russian leader Vladimir Putin warned Ukraine and European countries not to “put whispers” to what he called an important progress. This was a classic attempt to divide the Western military alliance, notes CNN into a short analysis immediately after Monday's meetings.

The Monday meeting at the White House was the response of Europe. It was a historical moment, which aroused echoes of the great meetings of the Allies that put an end to the Second World War.
The European leaders left everything and rushed to reach Washington, alarmed by what happened in Alaska, a summit that strengthened their doubts about Constanta to an American president who frequently criticized NATO.
But that's how the West has to work, notes the American television station.
Every European leader Trump gave the word addressed a separate problem. French President Emmanuel Macron said that the Tripartit summit proposed by Trump with Putin and Zelenski should have a fourth participant – Europe.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz insisted on ceasing the fire that Putin refused, with Trump's consent.
British prime minister Keir Starmer raised the issue of importance of security guarantees for Ukraine, following the model of the mutual defense clause in the NATO treaty (the famous article 5).
According to the American post, it was a remarkable demonstration of unity from the leaders of the whole ideological spectrum, from liberal centralists, such as Macron, to the Italian Conservative Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The UK, who left the EU, remained firm with its partners across the ocean.
None of the 7 European leaders spoke the name of Putin or Russia. Meloni: “I was from the beginning on the side of Ukraine and so we will be” / What the Prime Minister of Italy said, 30 centimeters from Trump
Trump's guests seemed very well trained and showed a synergy that such a diverse block almost never manifests.
Trump's visitors said he went further than anyone in his peace efforts. They have endeavored to build a political and even emotional justification for a flexible president to remain long-term employed in favor of a truly fair peace, and not the one desired by Putin.
None of this will be able to overcome the seemingly irreconcilable differences between Russia and Ukraine. But we can be sure that Putin followed everything, writes CNN.
