President Lukashenko during a meeting with ministers reminded that for the next five -year plan the government adopted the task of maximum use of the economic potential of tourism.
The Belarusian president drew attention to the quality of the services offered. “I will say bluntly: if in hotels on the walls and under the beds they will crawl cockroaches, no tourist will come here. A level is needed that Belarusians choose relaxation in their own country more often” – said Aleksander Łukaszenko, quoted by Belta Agency.
As the president added, Belarusians often choose rest abroad, but usually they are countries with access to the sea and a warmer atmosphere.

According to official Belarusian data, in 2023 the country's border exceeded about 5.7 million tourists. Last year, their number has already exceeded 6.6 million. The problem is that 80 percent of them are Russians. To this you have to add travelers from other countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union.
