The former communication director of the White House communication Anthony Scaramucci assessed in a Monday interview for the Norwegian daily A Aftenposten that Donald Trump's customs policy would discourage American business elites. In his opinion, the president's actions will worsen the mood at Wall Street this year.

Scaramucci admitted that the consequences will affect entrepreneurs and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic, but it is the US residents who will feel the decisions of their leader the most. He emphasized that the increase in prices caused by the introduction of customs tariffs by the White House, importers try to level their own. Ultimately, however, companies will have to transfer the effects of Trump's customs conflicts to buyers.
“They cannot finance the consequences of his decision forever,” he told the Norwegian newspaper, former US President's adviser.

In the opinion of Scaramucci, the increases of stock exchange rates are to end at the end of the year, when companies raise prices for products covered by new customs. In turn, the deterioration of moods on Wall Street will change the approach to Trump of the largest American investors. According to his former colleague, the irritation of great business is growing, but one should not expect spectacular words of dissatisfaction with the president's economic policy.
– They turn away from him, but they do it quietly. They become more and more annoyed by Trump – Scaramucci predicts in an interview with “AFTENPOSTEN”.

Scaramucci was appointed to the position of communication director during the previous term of Trump, in July 2017 he was to be responsible for the president's media strategy. He was dismissed after only 11 days after the conflict with the head of the White House staff John Kelly. Since then, he has been a declared critic of Donald Trump. Although he remains a member of the Republican Party, in the presidential election in 2024 he supported the candidacy of Kamali Harris.
