The presence of Nicușor Dan and his family was announced by the Facebook page “Adopt a house in Roşia Montană”, a program to save the heritage in this locality that over a decade was at the center of disputes on a gold operating project.
Nicușor Dan was one of the activists who were actively involved in the protests against the Gold Exploitation Project from Roşia Montană. In 2013, tens of thousands of Romanians demanded the rejection of a law that allows the exploitation of gold by Roșia Montană Gold Corporation, initiated by the Ponta government. The law was finally rejected by Parliament, and the draft was blocked.
“Surprise visit today, in the lunch break: an old friend and supporter of Roşia Montane and his heritage, President Nicuşor Dan, together with the family, returned to Roşia Montană!”, Is the message on Facebook transmitted by “Adopt a house in Roşia Montană”.
On the Facebook page, several photos were posted with President Nicușor Dan and the people working in the program.
Nicușor Dan, “in a period of holidays”
On Friday, Nicușor Dan was absent from the festivities organized in Constanța on the Day of the Romanian Navy. It was for the first time that a president was missing from events in 2011. The Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu, later stated that the boss is “in a period of holidays”, which was why he was missing from the festivities in Constanța.
The president and his family chose to attend a job at the Sâmbăta de Sus monastery on Friday, very close to Făgăraș, his hometown. The head of the state said he wanted to be close to the community, in a place where he came with his parents.
On Saturday, Nicușor Dan went to the pilgrimage to the Arsenie Boca Monastery, in the Sâmbetei Valley. According to the filming made by those present, the president was received with bread and salt by the abbot and greeted the parishioners present at the job.
These events, the same as the visit of Roșia Montană on Monday, did not find themselves on the official agenda of the president.
The next day, he posted a video clip on Sunday night with his hiking in the last days, saying that the most beautiful places he visited with the family are those in us, in Romania.
Also on Sunday, Nicușor Dan participated in the video conference in the “Coalition of the Willing) meeting of countries supporting Ukraine. The meeting had on the agenda the results of the Donald Trump – Vladimir Putin Summit on Friday and before the visit of a Volodimir Zelenski, along with several Europni leaders in Washington.
